Before your first interview: a 5-minute checklist
Set up your profile, check your language, test that Copilot hears the interviewer and run a test screen share before the real interview.
Run through these checks ahead of your interview, so there’s time to fix anything that comes up. They catch the most common problems.
1. Sign in and create your interview profile
- Install the app and sign in on the device you’ll use: Mac, Windows, or iPhone and Android.
- Create an interview profile for this job with your resume and the job description. Create an interview profile.
- Check it’s the profile Copilot uses. If you have more than one, the one for this interview should show Selected for interviews. If it doesn’t, choose Select for interviews.
2. Check your interview language
Copilot listens for the interview language you chose during setup. Make sure it matches the language of this interview.
- Mac and Windows: in the workspace, go to Settings › Interview › Language.
- iPhone and Android: in the Profile tab, tap Transcription & Language.

3. Test that Copilot can hear
Play any video with sound on your Mac, click Start in Interview Pilot and check that the words appear in the transcript. Then say something and check that you appear too. If the video doesn’t show up, see Copilot can’t hear the interviewer on Mac.

Copilot needs an internet connection to write answers, so test on the same network you’ll use for the interview.
4. Run a test screen share
On Mac and Windows, Interview Pilot is designed to stay out of your screen share. Check it with the meeting app you’ll use: join a test meeting from a second device, share your screen and make sure Interview Pilot doesn’t appear. Here’s how to test.
5. Learn the shortcut you’ll need most
Practice showing and hiding Interview Pilot with ⌘B on a Mac or CtrlB on Windows. It’s also how you bring the window back if you can’t find it. See all keyboard shortcuts.
6. Check what you have left this week
On the Free plan, interview sessions and Copilot answers have weekly limits. Make sure you haven’t used them up during your tests.
- Mac and Windows: in the workspace, open Account.
- iPhone and Android: in the Profile tab, tap Usage.
