Notifications and practice reminders

See which notifications the iPhone and Android apps send, turn each kind on or off, and fix notifications that are blocked or don’t arrive.

Applies toiPhoneAndroid

The iPhone and Android apps can remind you before your interviews and send you questions to practice. Choose which ones you get in Profile › Notifications.

What each notification does

NotificationWhat you get
Interview RemindersReminders before each interview in your Scheduler: one to prepare, and one shortly before it starts. Needs an Interview Pilot account. Schedule interviews.
Practice RemindersA Question of the Day from the Question Bank, up to twice a week. Tap it to open the question in the Practice tab.
App RemindersOccasional reminders to practice or try a feature, and news about Pro. Only on the Free plan.

Practice Reminders and App Reminders together send at most three notifications a week. On iPhone, you also get a notification when an interview you forwarded by email is added to your Scheduler.

Turn notifications on or off

Profile › Notifications in the iPhone app, with every kind of notification turned on.
  1. Open Notifications

Open the Profile tab and tap Notifications under App Settings.

  2. Turn on Enable Notifications

This switch controls every notification from Interview Pilot. If your phone hasn’t asked before, it asks whether to allow notifications. Allow them.

  3. Choose the kinds you want

Turn Interview Reminders, Practice Reminders and App Reminders on or off. App Reminders appears only on the Free plan. When Interview Reminders is on, you can also choose when each interview reminder arrives.

All of them start on. To stop every notification from Interview Pilot, turn off Enable Notifications.

If notifications are blocked

If you didn’t allow notifications, or turned them off in your phone’s settings, Interview Pilot can’t send any. The Notifications page shows Notifications are disabled in device settings. Tap to open Settings. Tap it, then allow notifications.

  1. Open Interview Pilot’s settings

Tap the message on the Notifications page. You can also open the Settings app and find Interview Pilot in the list of apps. On newer versions of iOS, it may be under Apps.

  2. Tap Notifications

It’s on Interview Pilot’s page in the Settings app.

  3. Turn on Allow Notifications

Then go back to Interview Pilot.

If reminders don’t arrive

  1. Check the switches. In Profile › Notifications, make sure Enable Notifications and the kind you expect are on, and that no reminder is set to Off.
  2. Check that you’re signed in. Interview reminders need an account, and only cover interviews in your Scheduler.
  3. Open the Scheduler on iPhone. The iPhone app sets an interview’s reminders when you open the Scheduler, so open it after you add an interview by email or on another phone.
  4. Check Focus or Do Not Disturb. These modes can silence notifications from Interview Pilot.
  5. On Android, allow alarms. If reminders arrive late, look for Alarms & reminders on Interview Pilot’s app info page and allow it. Not every Android version has this setting.
