Add context: notes, screenshots and photos
Give Copilot more to work with during an interview by typing a note, capturing your screen on a computer or adding a photo on your phone, and choose between Standard and Thinking.
The transcript isn’t always enough. You can type a note, add up to two screenshots on a Mac or Windows PC, or up to two photos on a phone, and Copilot uses them with the transcript when it writes the next answer.
Type extra context
Type in Add extra context... while Copilot is listening, then ask for an answer. Copilot reads your note together with the transcript. You can use it to:
- Type a question that was shown in the meeting chat.
- Correct a word Copilot misheard.
- Steer the answer, for example “Keep it under a minute” or “Use the project from my last job”.
If Copilot hasn’t heard anything yet, your note alone is enough for an answer.
On Mac and Windows, the field is under the transcript, with a Paste button next to it. On a phone, it’s above the main button.
Your note is used for one answer. It clears when the answer starts, so type a new one for the next question.
Add screenshots on Mac and Windows
Screen context lets Copilot see what’s on your screen, such as a coding problem, a slide or a shared document.
Open Screen Context
Click the Screen Context button in the control bar, next to the workspace button.
Capture your screen
Click Capture Screen. You can add up to two screenshots. Use as context turns on when you add the first one.
Ask for an answer
Copilot uses the screenshots with the transcript when it writes the answer.
The quickest way is the shortcut, without opening anything: press ⌘K on Mac or CtrlK on Windows. With two screenshots already added, the shortcut replaces the oldest. Press ⌘ShiftK or CtrlShiftK to remove the oldest.
Your screenshots appear as small thumbnails in the control bar. Click the × on one to remove it, or click Clear in Screen Context to remove both.
Interview Pilot captures the display your pointer is on, and leaves its own windows out of the screenshot. It needs the Screen & System Audio permission. If you see Screen Recording permission is required to capture screen context. After enabling it, restart Interview Pilot., click Open Screen Recording Settings and turn on Interview Pilot. Then quit the app from Account › Quit App in the workspace and open it again.
Interview Pilot captures your main display. If the content you need is on another monitor, move it to your main display before you capture.
Add photos on iPhone and Android
On a phone, Image Context lets you photograph a question on another screen or on paper, or pick an image from your photos.
Tap the plus button
Tap + at the top left of the controls on the Copilot tab. Image Context opens with your camera.
Take or choose a picture
Tap Capture to take a photo, or tap the photos button to pick one. You can add up to two images.
Check Use as context
Make sure Use as context is on, then close Image Context and ask for an answer.
A green dot on + shows that images are attached. The first time, your phone asks for camera access. If you see Camera access needed, tap it to open your phone’s settings and allow the camera.
Screenshots and photos stay attached
Unlike typed notes, screenshots and photos are used for every answer until you remove them, turn off Use as context, or end the session. Remove them when you move on to a different question, so they don’t steer the next answer.
Standard or Thinking
A switch shows Standard or Thinking: in the transcript panel on Mac and Windows, and next to the extra context field on a phone. Click or tap it to change.
- Standard is the default and starts answering fastest.
- Thinking spends more time reasoning before it answers. Use it for questions that need careful working out. When you switch to it, you briefly see May take longer.
Your choice stays until you change it, on that device.
If you turn on Coding Support in your Copilot settings, answers to coding questions include a full solution in your chosen language. A screenshot or photo of the problem gives Copilot the exact wording. See Choose how answers are written.
