What an interview profile is
An interview profile tells Copilot about you and the job. Learn what goes in one, how Copilot uses it, and how to choose the profile for your next interview.
An interview profile tells Copilot who you are and which job you’re interviewing for, so its answers sound like you and fit the role. You can keep one profile for each job and choose which one Copilot uses.
What’s in a profile
Each profile has four parts. The names differ slightly between the desktop and phone apps.
| Part | Mac, Windows and web | iPhone and Android | What goes in it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Your background | Personal info | Personal Info | Experience and education, Skills and Additional personal information |
| The job | Job details | Job Details | Job title, Company, Job description, Company or team information and Additional job information |
| How answers should sound | Custom | Custom instructions | Standing instructions for Copilot, such as the tone or what to focus on |
| Supporting files | Documents (Optional) | Documents (Optional) | Personal and job documents, such as a cover letter or a page about the team |
The profile also has a name, so you can tell your profiles apart. The percentage next to it shows how many of the six main fields are filled in: experience and education, skills, job title, company, job description, and company or team information.
How Copilot uses your profile
When you ask for an answer, Copilot reads the selected profile along with what the interviewer said. It uses your background and the job details when they help answer the question, for example to pick a relevant project for a behavioral question or to mention the company’s product. It doesn’t force your profile into every answer.
Text from your documents is used the same way. Your custom instructions are followed in every answer. Learn more about custom instructions.
Choose the profile for your interviews
Only one profile is used at a time. The selected profile shows Selected for interviews on its card. On any other card, click or tap Select for interviews to use it instead.
Open the workspace and click Profile. You can also switch from any workspace page except Account and System Status: next to Selected at the top, click the profile name and choose another profile.

Sign in at platform.interviewpilot.app and choose Interview Profiles in the sidebar. You can also switch with the profile name at the top of the Interview Profiles page.
Your first profile is selected automatically. When you create another one, Interview Pilot asks Select "…" for interviews?. Choose Select to use it now, or Not now to keep your current profile.
One profile per job
A separate profile for each job keeps Copilot focused on the right role. Your personal info can be the same in each, while the job details change.
To start a new profile from an existing one, open the menu with the dots on its card and choose Duplicate profile. The copy includes all the fields, but not the attached documents.
Your profiles on other devices
When you’re signed in, your profiles, including their documents and custom instructions, are saved to your account and appear on every device. The profile selected for interviews is chosen on each device, so selecting one on your Mac doesn’t change the one your phone uses. Learn how sync works.
On iPhone and Android you can also use profiles without an account. They stay on that phone until you sign in.
