AI mock interviews

Practice answering a real interview question out loud with an AI interviewer on your phone or on the web, then get a scored evaluation.

Applies toiPhoneAndroidWeb

In an AI mock interview, an AI interviewer asks you a question out loud, you answer as you would in a real interview, and Interview Pilot scores your answer. Mock interviews run in the iPhone and Android apps and on the web.

WhereWhat you need
iPhone and AndroidAvailable on Free and Pro. On Free, each mock interview uses one of your weekly Copilot answers.
WebPro, and an Interview Pilot account.

With Free on a phone, you can see how many answers you have left in the Profile tab under Usage. Learn about weekly limits. Mock interviews aren’t available in the Mac and Windows apps, but your practice sessions appear in their History.

Start a mock interview

  1. Choose a question

Open the Practice tab and tap a question in the Question Bank. For a random question that matches your filters, tap Start practice under Ready for a challenge?.

  2. Tap Start

The Interview Pilot Mock room opens with a preview from your camera. Tap Start. Allow the microphone if your iPhone asks. If you’re out of answers for the week, the upgrade screen opens instead.

  3. Listen and answer

The interviewer asks the question out loud. Answer as you would in a real interview. When you’ve finished, tap End Turn. The interviewer may ask a follow-up question.

  4. Tap End Interview

Interview Pilot shows Generating your evaluation and then your results. The mock interview also ends on its own when the interviewer wraps up, or after 3 minutes.

Controls in the mock interview room

ControlWhat it does
Stop Video / Start VideoTurns your camera preview off or on.
Switch Camera (at the top)Switches between the front and back cameras.
ChatShows or hides the live transcript of the conversation.
MuteShows whether the mock interview can hear you.
LeaveLeaves the room. If the mock interview has started, End Interview Pilot Mock? asks you to confirm, and the session is discarded without an evaluation.

Your camera preview is only for you, so you can see how you come across. Only your voice is sent to the AI interviewer. The video isn’t sent or saved.

Where your results are saved

Each completed mock interview is saved as a practice session in History, with its evaluation and transcript.

  • iPhone and Android: open the History tab. The recording of your answer stays on that phone.
  • Web: go to History and choose the Practice tab. Mock interviews you do on the web keep their recording, so you can play it back on the web and in the Mac and Windows apps.

When you’re signed in, practice sessions sync to your other devices. A session you leave before it ends isn’t saved. Understand your evaluation.
