Meeting apps and screen sharing
How Interview Pilot works with Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Webex and other meeting apps on Mac and Windows, and how to share your screen with confidence.
Interview Pilot is designed to stay hidden in any meeting app on Mac and Windows. Zoom on a Mac is the one app that needs a setting changed first. Whatever app you use, test it before the interview.
Zoom on a Mac
In its default Automatic capture mode, Zoom can include Interview Pilot in your share. Switching Zoom to Advanced capture with window filtering takes about 30 seconds, and you only need to do it once. Switch Zoom to Advanced capture.
While the Zoom app is running, Interview Pilot shows a Zoom detected reminder at the top of its window.
Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Webex and others
Interview Pilot is designed to stay hidden in other meeting apps without any extra settings, and its protection is updated as those apps change. Each app captures your screen in its own way, so test with the app you’ll use for the interview.
On Windows, if Interview Pilot shows Screen-share protection needs attention, hide it with CtrlB before you share. What the banner means.
Share a window or your whole screen
Most meeting apps let you share one window or browser tab, or your entire screen.
- One window or tab shares less of your computer, so other apps and notifications stay out of view.
- Your entire screen is what some interviewers ask for, for example in coding interviews. Interview Pilot is designed to stay hidden here too.
Test the same way you’ll share in the interview. If you’re not sure which one you’ll be asked for, test both.
Browser or desktop app
Many meeting services work both in a web browser and as a desktop app, and the two may capture your screen differently. Test in the one you’ll use on the day: the same app, or the same browser.
Before you share
- Run a two-minute test with a second device.
- If you’re ever unsure, hide Interview Pilot with ⌘B on a Mac or CtrlB on Windows. A hidden window doesn’t appear in your share.
- Press the same shortcut to bring it back when you need it.
