Continuous or Question mode, and Auto-Generate

Choose whether Copilot keeps listening through the whole interview or one question at a time, and whether it answers on its own when the interviewer stops talking.

Applies toMacWindowsiPhoneAndroid

Interview Mode decides what Copilot does after each answer. Continuous keeps listening for the rest of the interview, and it’s the default. Question stops after each answer so you start each question yourself. Auto-Generate asks for an answer for you when the interviewer stops talking.

Good forConversations that flow from one question to the next, so you don’t need to touch anything between questions.Interviews where you want to choose exactly when Copilot listens, for example only while each question is asked.

In both modes, the transcript starts fresh after each answer, so the next answer is about the next question.

In Continuous mode, Copilot also hears you while you speak your answer. It looks for the interviewer’s newest question at the end of the transcript, so this rarely matters. If an answer picks up the wrong question, click or tap Clear just before the interviewer asks the next one.

Change the mode

Press ⌘B to show Interview Pilot, open the workspace and go to Settings › Interview. Under Interview Mode, choose Continuous or Question.

Auto-Generate

With Auto-Generate on, you don’t need to press anything to get an answer.

  1. When the interviewer stops talking, Copilot waits a moment.
  2. The main button turns orange and counts down, for example Generating in 3s.
  3. When the countdown ends, Copilot writes the answer.

During the countdown:

  • If anyone starts talking again, the countdown stops and Copilot keeps listening.
  • Click or tap Resume to cancel the countdown and keep listening.
  • Click or tap the main button to answer straight away.

Auto-Generate only starts once Copilot has been listening for at least 5 seconds and has heard something.

Turn on Auto-Generate and set the Silence Delay

Auto-Generate is off until you turn it on. It sits on the same page as Interview Mode: in the workspace under Settings › Interview on Mac and Windows, and in Settings › Interview Mode on a phone.

After you turn it on, Silence Delay appears. It sets how long the countdown lasts, from 2 to 5 seconds in half-second steps. It starts at 3 seconds.

These settings are saved on each device and don’t sync, so set them on every device you use.
