Install Interview Pilot on Windows

Download and run the installer, sign in through your browser and allow the microphone so Interview Pilot can hear your interviews.

Applies toWindows

Before you start

You need a 64-bit (x64) PC with Windows 10 version 2004 or later, or Windows 11. To check, open Settings › System › About and look at Edition, Version and System type.

You’ll also need an Interview Pilot account. If you don’t have one yet, you can create it when you sign in.

Install the app

  1. Download Interview Pilot

Go to the Downloads page and click Download for Windows. Your browser saves Interview Pilot Setup.exe, usually in your Downloads folder.

  2. Run the installer

Open Interview Pilot Setup.exe. Setup installs Interview Pilot for your Windows account without asking you to choose anything, then opens the app.

To open Interview Pilot later, click Start, type Interview Pilot and press Enter.

  1. Click Sign In

On Welcome to Interview Pilot, click Sign In. Your web browser opens the Interview Pilot sign-in page.

Sign-in happens in your browser, so you can use your email and password, Apple or Google.
  2. Sign in in your browser

Sign in, or create an account if you don’t have one. If your browser asks whether to open Interview Pilot, allow it. You can also click Open Interview Pilot on the page.

  3. Go back to the app

While you sign in, the app shows Finish signing in and updates on its own when you’re done. If you closed the browser tab before finishing, click Open Browser to pick up where you left off.

Finish setup

After you sign in, a short setup walks you through the app:

  1. Welcome to Interview Pilot: choose the language your interviews are in. To change the language of the app itself, use the globe button.
  2. Open workspace: click the workspace button. The workspace is where you set up interview profiles, customize Copilot and change settings.
  3. Enable permissions: allow the microphone, as described below.
  4. You’re all set!: choose Guided profile setup to create your first interview profile now, or Finish to do it later.

If you’d rather explore on your own, click Skip setup. You can finish it later from the workspace.

Allow the microphone

On the Enable permissions step, click Allow next to Microphone and accept the Windows prompt.

PermissionWhat it’s for
MicrophoneHearing you.
Screen & System AudioHearing the interviewer through your PC’s audio, and taking screenshots when you add screen context. This works automatically, so it already shows Allowed.

If microphone access is turned off in Windows, Interview Pilot opens the microphone page in Windows Settings instead. Turn on microphone access there, including access for desktop apps, then come back to the app. On Windows 11 the page is Settings › Privacy & security › Microphone. On Windows 10 it’s Settings › Privacy › Microphone.

Interview Pilot hears the interviewer through your PC’s default playback device and hears you through your default communications microphone. If your meeting app plays sound through a different device, here’s how to fix it.

You can check permissions at any time in the workspace under Settings › Permissions. While the microphone isn’t allowed, the main button says Enable Permissions.

Update Interview Pilot

Interview Pilot checks for updates when it opens and about once a day while it runs. When an update is available, an Update button appears in the workspace sidebar.

To check yourself, open the workspace and go to Settings › About. Next to App Updates:

  1. Click Check for Updates. If a new version is available, the button changes to Update.
  2. Click Update to download it.
  3. When the button shows Ready, click it. Interview Pilot closes, installs the update and opens again.
