Interview language and app language
Set the language your interview is in so Copilot transcribes it correctly, choose a transcription system on iPhone, and change the language of the app’s own menus and buttons.
Interview Pilot has two separate language settings. The interview language tells Copilot which language to listen for. The app language is the language of Interview Pilot’s own menus and buttons. Changing one doesn’t change the other.
Interview language
Choose Auto-detect to let Copilot work out the language, or pick the language your interview is in. You can choose from 57 languages, including English, Spanish, French, German, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Hindi, Portuguese and Arabic.
If the transcript comes out in the wrong language, or full of odd words, pick the interview language yourself instead of Auto-detect.
You choose an interview language when you first set up the app. To change it, press ⌘B, open the workspace and go to Settings › Interview, then choose from Language.

The interview language is saved on each device and doesn’t sync, so set it on every device you use.
Transcription on iPhone and Android
On iPhone, Settings › Transcription & Language lets you choose between two transcription systems. Each one keeps its own language setting.
| Copilot Premium+ | Default | |
|---|---|---|
| In the app | “Enterprise-grade speech recognition with excellent accuracy and broad language support.” Marked Recommended. | “Standard speech recognition. Fast and efficient for supported languages.” |
| Languages | Auto-detect and 57 languages | The languages Apple’s speech recognition supports on your iPhone, such as English (United States) |
| Weekly allowance | Uses premium transcription minutes | No premium minutes used |
On Android, transcription always uses Copilot Premium+.
Premium transcription minutes have a weekly allowance on both the Free and Pro plans, and Pro’s allowance is much larger. See Free and Pro. If your minutes run out:
- iPhone: Interview Pilot switches to Default and switches back to Copilot Premium+ after your minutes reset. While Copilot Premium+ isn’t available, it shows Try again later.
- Android: you see Premium Transcription Unavailable and Try again later.
The Mac and Windows apps always use Interview Pilot’s premium transcription, so there’s no choice to make. See Weekly limits and when they reset.
App language
Interview Pilot’s menus and buttons are available in English, Chinese (Simplified), French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean and Spanish.
Interview Pilot uses your Mac’s language. To use a different language for Interview Pilot only, open System Settings › General › Language & Region. Under Applications, you may be able to add Interview Pilot and choose its language. Then quit and reopen Interview Pilot.
Open Appearance settings
Press CtrlB, open the workspace and go to Settings › Appearance.
Choose the app language
Choose a language from App Language. System Default follows your Windows language.
Restart Interview Pilot
In Restart Interview Pilot?, click Restart Now, or choose Later and restart the app yourself.
Interview Pilot uses your iPhone’s language. To use a different language for Interview Pilot only, open the iPhone Settings app, find Interview Pilot, and choose Language. This option may only appear when your iPhone has more than one preferred language.
Interview Pilot uses your phone’s language. On Android 13 and later, you can choose a different language for Interview Pilot only in your phone’s settings, usually under System › Languages › App languages. The exact path may vary by phone.
