Test before your interview
A two-minute test with a second device that checks Interview Pilot stays out of your screen share and that Copilot hears the interviewer and you.
Join a test meeting from a second device, such as your phone, a tablet or another computer. In about two minutes, you’ll see exactly what the interviewer sees and check that Copilot hears both of you.
Before you start
- Use the same computer, meeting app and way of joining as in the interview. If you’ll join from a browser, test in that browser.
- Using Zoom on a Mac? Switch Zoom to Advanced capture first.
- If you’ll wear headphones in the interview, connect them now.
Run the test
Start a meeting on your computer
In your meeting app, start a meeting on your own.
Join from the second device
Join the same meeting from your second device and unmute it. Turn its volume down so it doesn’t echo.
Start Interview Pilot
Press ⌘B on a Mac or CtrlB on Windows to show Interview Pilot, then click Start.
Share your screen
Share your screen on the computer the way you’ll share it in the interview: your entire screen, or one window.
Check what the second device sees
On the second device, check that the share is live, for example by moving a window on your computer, and that Interview Pilot doesn’t appear in it.
Check that Copilot hears the interviewer
Take the second device away from your computer, to another room if you can, and read a sentence aloud into it. Back at your computer, check that the words are in Interview Pilot’s transcript. Being away from your computer makes sure Interview Pilot heard the meeting, not your voice in the room.
Check that Copilot hears you
Say something at your computer and check that it appears in the transcript too.
When you’re done, stop sharing and leave the meeting. As long as you didn’t generate an answer, the test doesn’t use one of the Free plan’s weekly interview sessions.
If something didn’t work
| What happened | What to do |
|---|---|
| Interview Pilot appeared on the second device | Press ⌘B or CtrlB to hide it, then see Interview Pilot shows up in my screen share. |
| The sentence from the second device isn’t in the transcript | See Copilot can’t hear the interviewer on Mac or on Windows. |
| You aren’t in the transcript | Open the workspace and go to Settings › Permissions. Microphone should say Allowed. On Windows, also check your default communications microphone. |
After you fix anything, run the test again.
