Zoom on Mac: switch to Advanced capture

Change one Zoom setting so Interview Pilot stays out of your screen share, then test it before your interview.

Applies toMac

Interview Pilot is designed to stay hidden when you share your screen. Zoom on Mac is the one meeting app that needs a setting changed first: in its default Automatic capture mode, Zoom can include windows that other apps keep out of screen shares.

While Zoom is open, Interview Pilot shows a reminder at the top of its window.

Click Show me to see the steps in the app. The × hides the reminder for good.

Change the setting in Zoom

It takes about 30 seconds, and you only need to do it once.

  1. Open Zoom’s settings

In the Zoom app, click your profile picture, then click Settings.

  2. Go to Share Screen and click Advanced

Choose the Share Screen tab, then click Advanced at the bottom.

The Advanced button is at the bottom of the Share Screen tab.
  3. Change Screen capture mode

Under Screen capture mode, change Automatic to Advanced capture with window filtering.

  4. Restart Zoom

Quit Zoom and open it again so the change takes effect.

Test it before your interview

Do a quick test so you know exactly what the interviewer will see.

  1. Start a Zoom meeting on your Mac.
  2. Join the same meeting from your phone or another computer.
  3. Show Interview Pilot with ⌘B, then share your screen on the Mac the way you plan to in the interview.
  4. On the other device, check that the shared screen doesn’t show Interview Pilot.

The reminder

The reminder appears whenever Zoom is running, even after you’ve changed the setting, because Interview Pilot can’t read Zoom’s settings to check.

  • Show me opens the same steps inside Interview Pilot.
  • × hides the reminder from then on.

To get the reminder back, open the workspace, go to Tips & Tricks › Invisibility and click Reset next to Re-enable Zoom warning banner.

Other meeting apps

Interview Pilot is designed to stay hidden in other meeting apps without any extra settings, and its protection is updated as those apps change. A quick test share before an important interview is always worth it.
