Shortcuts don’t work or clash with other apps
Interview Pilot’s shortcuts can’t be changed and take priority in other apps. See which common shortcuts they replace and how to fix a shortcut that does nothing.
On Mac and Windows, Interview Pilot’s shortcuts work in every app and can’t be changed. While Interview Pilot is running, other apps don’t get those key combinations, even when its window is hidden.
Shortcuts that clash with other apps
Interview Pilot uses these shortcuts the whole time it’s running. In other apps, they may stop doing what you expect:
| Mac | Windows | What it usually does in other apps |
|---|---|---|
| ⌘B | CtrlB | Bold text |
| ⌘K | CtrlK | Add a link, or open a search or command bar |
| ⌘1 to ⌘9 | Ctrl1 to Ctrl9 | Switch browser tabs |
| ⌘← ⌘→ | Ctrl← Ctrl→ | Move the cursor to the start or end of a line on Mac, or by a word on Windows |
| ⌘Shift← ⌘Shift→ | CtrlShift← CtrlShift→ | Select text to the start or end of a line, or by a word |
| ⌘↑ ⌘↓ | Ctrl↑ Ctrl↓ | Move to the top or bottom of a document, or by a paragraph |
| ⌘Return | CtrlEnter | Send a message in some apps |
For every shortcut and what it does in Interview Pilot, see Keyboard shortcuts.
To use one of these in another app, quit Interview Pilot first from Account › Quit App in the workspace. Hiding the window isn’t enough. See Show, hide and quit the desktop app.
Free up the number keys
The numbered follow-up shortcuts are only active while Show Follow-Up Actions is on, and it’s on until you turn it off.
Open Settings › Appearance
Press ⌘B on a Mac or CtrlB on Windows to show Interview Pilot, open the workspace and go to Settings › Appearance.
Turn off Show Follow-Up Actions
⌘1 to ⌘9 on Mac, or Ctrl1 to Ctrl9 on Windows, go back to your other apps straight away. The follow-up buttons under each answer are hidden too.
The other shortcuts can’t be turned off.
