Copilot stopped listening after 10 minutes

A single recording stops on its own after 10 minutes. See what changes on screen, how to keep listening and what Interview Pilot keeps.

Applies toMacWindowsiPhoneAndroid

Copilot stops a single recording after 10 minutes of listening. Your transcript and answers stay on screen. Press Start on a computer or Start Recording on a phone to keep listening.

What you see when the limit is reached

No message appears. Copilot stops listening and the main button changes back:

DeviceMain button after 10 minutes
Mac and WindowsStart
iPhone and AndroidStart Recording

Interview Pilot doesn’t start listening again on its own. Until you press the button, nothing new is added to the transcript.

Keep listening

  1. Press the main button

Click Start on Mac or Windows, or press ⌘Return on a Mac or CtrlEnter on Windows. On iPhone or Android, tap Start Recording.

  2. Carry on with the interview

The words Copilot heard before the limit stay in the transcript, and new words are added after them. When you want an answer, click Answer or tap Generate Answer as usual.

It’s still the same interview, so starting again doesn’t count as a new interview session.

What’s kept

Reaching the limit only stops listening. It doesn’t end the session or throw anything away.

DeviceWhat’s kept
Mac and WindowsThe transcript stays on screen. Every answer is already saved to History as it’s ready.
iPhone and AndroidThe transcript and answers stay on screen. The interview is saved to History when you tap End, then End & Save, as usual.

If Record Interview Audio is on, a phone adds to the same recording when you start again. The time Copilot wasn’t listening isn’t in the recording. See Interview audio recordings.

Why it rarely comes up

The limit applies to one stretch of listening, not to the whole interview. In Continuous mode, Copilot starts a new recording each time it starts listening again after an answer, so the 10 minutes start over with every question.

You’re most likely to reach it when Copilot listens for a long time without being asked for an answer, for example during a long presentation or case discussion. If that’s likely in your interview, keep an eye on the main button and start again when it changes back. See Continuous or Question mode, and Auto-Generate.

Still stopping?

If Copilot stops listening well before 10 minutes, the limit isn’t the cause. Check your connection in Interview Pilot keeps connecting or loses its connection, and on Windows check that your audio devices are still connected, as in Copilot can’t hear the interviewer on Windows.
