Install and update problems

Get past problems installing Interview Pilot on Mac or Windows, keep the desktop apps up to date, and update the iPhone and Android apps.

Interview Pilot installs from the Downloads page on Mac and Windows, and from the App Store or Google Play on phones. The desktop apps check for updates on their own and show an Update button in the workspace sidebar when a new version is ready.

Check that your device is supported

DeviceYou need
MacmacOS 14 Sonoma or later. Hearing the interviewer through your Mac’s audio needs macOS 14.4 or later.
WindowsA 64-bit (x64) PC with Windows 10 version 2004 or later, or Windows 11
iPhone and iPadiOS 17 or iPadOS 17 or later
AndroidAndroid 7.0 or later

Mac

  1. Open the disk image

Double-click Interview Pilot.dmg in your Downloads folder. If it doesn’t open, the download may not have finished. Download it again from the Downloads page.

  2. Drag Interview Pilot to Applications

In the window that opens, drag Interview Pilot onto the Applications folder. Then eject the Interview Pilot disk in Finder, so you don’t open the app from the disk image by mistake.

  3. Open it and confirm

Open Interview Pilot with Spotlight. The first time, macOS asks whether you want to open an app downloaded from the internet. Choose Open.

Interview Pilot has no Dock or menu bar icon, so nothing appears there when it opens. Press ⌘B to show its window. If you already had an older copy, replace it in Applications rather than keeping two.

Windows

  1. Run the installer

Open Interview Pilot Setup.exe from your Downloads folder. Setup installs Interview Pilot for your Windows account without asking you to choose anything, then opens the app.

  2. If Windows asks before running it

Windows or your security software may ask whether to run a file downloaded from the internet. Check that you downloaded it from the Interview Pilot Downloads page, then allow it. The wording of these prompts depends on your Windows version and settings.

  3. Open Interview Pilot from the Start menu

Click Start, type Interview Pilot and press Enter. If it’s already running, this brings its window back.

Once you’re signed in, the window has no taskbar button. Press CtrlB to show or hide it.

Update the desktop app

Interview Pilot checks for updates when it opens and again while it runs. When an update is available, an Update button appears in the workspace sidebar. Click it, or go to Settings › About in the workspace and click Check for Updates next to App Updates.

A window shows whether you’re up to date or a new version is available. Follow its steps to install the update. Interview Pilot updates the copy you opened, so make sure that’s the one in Applications.

To see which version you have, look next to Version in Settings › About.

Update the phone apps

The iPhone and Android apps update through the App Store and Google Play, like your other apps. To update now, open the App Store listing or the Google Play listing on your phone and tap Update if it appears.

To see which version you have, open the Profile tab and scroll to Version under About.
