Prepare for the task the employer describes, not rumors about a hidden scoring model. AI-assisted hiring tools vary, and the candidate may not know which decisions are automated. A reliable plan verifies the format, protects access, and improves the substance of each answer.
The EEOC's worker tip sheet on disability and algorithmic tools explains that hiring technology can create barriers and encourages applicants to understand how to request an accommodation. Use jurisdiction-specific official guidance for individual legal questions.
Identify the actual format
Read the invitation for the number of questions, response time, preparation time, retries, required equipment, and deadline. Determine whether it is live, one-way recorded, text-based, game-like, or a work sample. If the instructions do not say who reviews responses, do not invent an answer.
Test the complete route
Use the supported browser and device. Test camera, microphone, network, lighting, and any practice question offered by the platform. Close notifications and confirm where recordings are saved if the notice explains it.
Run one full practice under the same time limits. The video interview guide covers framing and delivery without requiring artificial eye contact or exaggerated gestures.
Practice evidence not signals
Prepare examples that show your role, decision, action, and result. Use the job description to choose relevant stories, then practice fitting them into the available response time. The behavioral interview guide can help structure those examples.
Do not add keywords you cannot support, use another person to answer, read a generated script, or attempt to manipulate a presumed detector. These tactics can reduce clarity and may violate the assessment rules.
Use the stated support process
If the platform fails, capture the error, time, and question number without exposing confidential content. Contact the designated support address promptly. If you need an accommodation, describe the barrier and requested adjustment as early as practical.
On the day, treat each prompt as an interview question: pause, answer directly, give evidence, and stop when the answer is complete.
